Trish on the Patio

Trish Watson discovered the joy of wire when she attended the North Carolina School of the Arts in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. There she earned her high school diploma in visual arts, specializing in pottery, and learned to make the "wire guys" that have given her and her friends so much fun over the years.

Her love of making wire figures followed her through college and a successful writing and editing career. During graduate school at NC State, she began experimenting with wire forms beyond figures, including a hilarious "hat game" for which she is now pursuing a patent.

Since graduation, Trish's art has focused on mastery of the human form and the expression of motion through wire, and she has begun exploring artistry in wire as a possible second career. The joy she feels in pursuing her art expresses itself as vibrancy and beauty in her human and floral sculptures, each as unique as the artist.

Trish's artistic goals include creating a life-sized human figure in heavy-gauge copper, perfecting her wire techniques before beginning an ambitious Kama Sutra series, and exploring a line of custom home decorating accessories.

"What finer thing in life to pursue," she says, "than that which brings you joy! My hope is that I can share the joy, the hope, the pure fun I feel when I do my art."
